What are we,
specks on the Earth
bound to our bodies by binds
beyond our greatest convention,
drawn to each other like waves,
pulling and crashing to the shore?
Are we not capable
of controlling our own destinies,
or is destiny the bond we have
to break to be free of death?
Freedom from an eternal equalizer,
the sandy banks from which
we take no joy, only regret.
Regret and no peace of mind
knowing there’s more to learn,
more waves, as we move to the next
island undiscovered.
